What is Intermittent Fasting?
Newton Residents ask, ‘What is Intermittent Fasting?’
Intermittent fasting is an eating schedule that promotes periods of time throughout the day where the individual does not eat. For instance, some may skip breakfast or have their last meal of the day quite early to fast a bit at night. There are many different types of intermittent fasting techniques. Without eating during these times, fat cells can release stored sugar to be used as energy and insulin levels will eventually go down. I will evaluate your current health status to see what methods work best for you. In my practice I apply intermittent fasting to some of my patient’s diets and meal plans. Depending on the individual’s current health status, this fasting technique can help to overcome various conditions such as obesity, hypertension, and inflammation. Paired with other very important methods such as a plant forward diet, exercise, and removal/substitution of obesogenic medications, my patients will be at their optimal health.
