What does it mean to ‘Eat Clean’ ?
Simply put, eating clean is diet philosophy that encourages eating more whole, natural foods and less highly processed foods like chips, frozen meals, or anything that comes in package. Eating clean is a diet that is much easier to maintain for many years than trying to count carbs or measure serving sizes.
Avoid Foods that aren’t Natural
I’m not referring to the label ‘Natural’ on a bag of chips. When I say natural, I mean it’s natural form – how the food would be found growing in nature.
The principal you want to keep in mind when shifting to a clean eating diet is to avoid eating foods that are drastically altered from their natural form. Some examples would include choosing a whole apple instead of apple juice; selecting a fresh chicken breast instead of chicken nuggets, or nibbling on fresh vegetables instead of vegetable chips.
Making snacks and meals yourself means you can control the amount of salt, the types of fats and oils added and greatly reduce the amount of preservatives and other chemicals that you consume.
