In my practice, I encourage a more plant based diet for my patients. I use lentils & pulses in my recipes which reduce blood sugar, bad cholesterol, and help with weight management when coupled with regular exercise. I do not tend to use white sugar in my recipes except for certain occasions when substituting natural sweeteners doesn’t not yield the best results. Food Options to treat Insomnia
- Consuming a cup of tart cherry juice
- One ripe banana
- A cup of warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg
- A cup of warm milk with a quarter teaspoon of turmeric
These are all kitchen based remedies that work very well when consumed at bedtime.
Oil Therapy
- Massaging your eyelids with cold pressed castor oil
- Putting a drop of castor oil in each eye
- Massaging your feet or the crown of your head with slightly warmed sesame oil also work really well
